A Call back to relationship with Almighty God through Jesus Christ.
Shofar was conceived in 2003 by Mike and Donna Spencer as a rallying call to the Church to call the people back into relationship with God. It is the aim of Shofar to promote unity, worship and prayer in the Church and encourage dialogue between Christians of different denominations. This ministry presently, based in St Jean de Maurienne, France.
The vision for this work sees the development of WORSHIP of God within the church coming from an expression of love, appreciation and gratitude to a God who loved us before we loved Him and who made the ultimate sacrifice for us in sending his son Jesus Christ to this world to die a cruel death in our place, providing a way back into RELATIONSHIP with Almighty God which had been rendered impossible by our sins (disobedience to God). As this grows we see the networking of churches across the nation of France in order to see many come to a saving faith in Jesus Christ.
Shofar also encompasses a vision for places of REFUGE where missionaries and other church workers and members can recuperate and receive ministry and healing. These ‘houses’ would be based on the principles of RELATIONSHIP with God and WORSHIP.
This is what the LORD Almighty says: “In those days ten men from all languages and nations will take firm hold of one worshipper* by the hem of his robe and say, ‘Let us go with you because we have heard that God is with you’” Zechariah 8:23 (original text ‘jew’)
